PCSX2 0.9.6 released!!

May 17th, 2009

After nearly 16 months, here comes a new Pcsx2 version. Pcsx2 0.9.6

These months were somewhat problematic for pcsx2, due to an initial slowdown of the development process. Then, last fall, the Playground branch was created, and development picked up again. Finally, with the merge of Pcsx2 and Pcsx2 playground, the emulator’s development returned once again as it was before, and now we can give you a release which should (we hope!) leave you happy.ps2

We would like to thank everyone that was still waiting for a release, and coming to our forums. We would also like to thank everyone to encouraged and otherwise supported us. This release is especially for you.

Important note: you NEED to update directx or you won’t be able to use the emulator! You can do it with either of the links below:

5 Tips For Handling Nuisance Barking

May 7th, 2009

Remember, barking is natural! It’s an important means of communication for dogs. But sometimes problems can develop. As the pack leader, it’s your job to step in and control excessive barking.

Correct and follow through! Tell your dog to stop barking using a look, a sound, or a physical correction. But don’t stop there. Your dog may pause and then go right back to what he was doing. His body relaxed, but his brain was still on alert. Be patient. Wait until your dog completely submits before you go back to what you were doing.

Make sure you are calm! Constant barking can be irritating, but you won’t be able to correct the problem if you are frustrated. Animals don’t follow unbalanced leaders. In fact, your dog will mirror your energy. If you’re frustrated, he will be, too! And barking is a great release for that frustrated energy. Take a moment to curb your own internal barking first.

Stake your claim! Is your dog barking over and over again at the same object, person, situation, or place? Then you need to step up and claim that stimulus as your own. Use your body, your mind, and your calm-assertive energy to create an invisible wall that your dog is not allowed to cross. Do it with 100% dedication and focus, and the results may surprise you.

Give your dog more challenges! Excessive barking is often the result of pent-up energy. If this is the case, the solution is simple: release that energy in more productive ways. Does your dog receive a daily walk? Can you make the walk more challenging with a bicycle, a backpack, or by walking on an incline? Can you provide more mental challenges, such as herding, agility training, or simple obedience games? There are many, many ways to increase the challenges in your dog’s life. Find one that you enjoy that your dog can participate in safely.

Get professional help. When you brought this dog into your life, you made a commitment to provide the care he needs. This includes calling in a canine professional to help him cope with a behavior issue. Get tips for finding the right professional.

10 Tips to Keep Your PC in Tiptop Shape

May 7th, 2009

1. Get Rid of Dust
One of the most common causes of overheating is dust and dirt. So you need to keep your system clean, inside and out. Try to clean it once a year using lint-free wipes. Make sure you use an antistatic wrist strap as well to protect your system when cleaning inside the case.

2. Get Power Protection
One of the saddest things in many PCs is that they are not surge protected. Surge protectors are a good investment - they protect your PC from that unfortunate power outage or lightning strike. Try to get one that has a warning indicator and is UL 1449 certified.

3. Turn Off the Monitor
One tip I always apply at home - turn off the PC monitor when its not in use. I treat the computer monitor like a TV - don’t waste your monitor’s power if you’re not using it. This is especially important in LCD monitors, which may burn out or get bad pixels after long periods of use.

4. Keep the PC Running
Many people don’t realize that its harmful to power up your computer from a cold state. This is especially true when done repeatedly within a short timeframe. Try to leave your PC running as long as possible - or use the Microsoft Windows’ Power Management settings to put your machine into hibernation rather than completely shutting down.

5. Hard Drive Health Check
If you use Windows XP, you should regularly check your hard disk’s health with an error-checking utility. In Windows Explorer, click on the drive’s icon, select Properties -> Tools -> Check Now. If the check discovers several hundred errors, your drive could be full of bad sectors - you’d best backup your important data and then try to get it repaired.

6. Get an Anti-Virus Program
I still find it amazing that many home computer users do not have an anti-virus program installed. This piece of software is fundamental to any computer system. You should definitely consider getting a program like Norton Antivirus or The Shield Pro to protect against harmful attacks.

7. Check the CMOS battery
If you have a very old PC (four or five years old), the CMOS battery on the motherboard may need to be replaced. The first sign of a bad CMOS battery is when your system clock starts losing time.

8. Take Care when Opening the Case
Whenever you open the PC case, turn off the power and unplug your PC. Ground yourself first - by touching anything inside the PC to avoid destroying your circuit boards with a static charge. Another option is to wear a grounding wrist strap. I’ve destroyed my computer power supply before because I forgot about this point.

9. Maintain the Mouse
What’s one of the dirtiest components in a PC that you come in contact with? Yes - it’s the modest little mouse. Years of using a mouse will get it filled with dirt and grime.

If you have a mechanical mouse, you’ll realize this when the mouse starts to move erratically. To clean it, unscrew the mouse and use a small scraper to scrape the dirt off the two plastic rollers inside. Also remember to clean the scroll wheel if there is one. If you have a optical mouse, you need not worry about any internal rollers but you still need to clean the scroll wheel.

10. Clean Up the Registry
If you always add and remove computer programs in your PC, you can be sure the entries in your Windows Registry are pretty much in a mess. A clogged Windows Registry increases the time your PC boot up time and hogs system resources. Try to get a tool to help clean the registry safely, such as Registry Mechanic. Do not try to clean the registry yourself if you’re not sure what you’re doing.

Conclusion
I hope this article has given you many ideas on how to keep your good old PC in tiptop shape. Remember, take care of your PC and it will take care of you. Apply these tips once in a while to ensure a trouble-free computer system.

10 Tips to Protect Your Eyes While Gaming

May 7th, 2009

10 Tips to Protect Your Eyes While Gaming
category : Computers-and-Technology:Games
Video and Computer games have taken the world by storm. Studies in 2006 reveal that kids and other gamers play for at least 5-10 hours a week and sometimes much longer. Sales of games indicate their popularity. Flash graphics, rapid-fire movements, and long hours at the console result in health problems like muscle and eye strain. Common ailments resulting from gaming are: lateral epicondylitis, tendonitis, bursitis, and carpel tunnel syndrome among others.

Health professionals recommend that gamers must take a break every 40 minutes to an hour. They must get up from the computer or gaming console and stretch their limbs, walk around a bit, and look at objects at a great distance.

Crucial to healthy gaming is posture while playing the chair must be comfortable, have back support, and the feet must rest on the floor. Gamers can prevent damage like eye irritation, headaches, dry eyes, pain, change in prescription numbers, squinting, difficulties in focusing, and frequent blinking by:

1. Sit facing the screen directly; ensure that the screen is not at an angle. This will stimulate both eyes equally.

2. Once every 15-30 minutes it is important that gamers look away from the screen and shift eye focus to objects at a distance. It could be trees or the sky or children playing. Change the eye focus to distant objects.

3. Sit at a reasonable distance from the screen. If the game is played on a television screen then sit at least 6 feet away. When playing on a computer the screen ideally should be 20-26 inches from your eyes.

4. Use the settings on the screen to reduce the glare to a comfortable level. Install an anti-glare filter.

5. Once in a while it is important to look away from the screen and blink your eyes to lubricate it.

6. Ask your eye doctor to prescribe artificial tears that will moisten your eyes.

7. At least 6-8 times a day, rub the palms of your hands together and press then on your eyes hold for a few minutes. The warmth of your palms will relax the eye muscles.

8. Greenery soothes eyes, so glance as often as you can at green trees, bushes, or plants.

9. Do simple eye strengthening exercises as taught by yoga and other systems of healing. The exercises are easy and can be done at anytime. Rolling your eyes, focusing on your nose and then the area between your eyebrows, shifting the eye ball from left to right are all easy exercises.

10. Get a qualified eye doctor to check your vision and find out whether you need ??computer glasses.?? If you use contact lenses it is best you take them off whilst gaming and use glasses instead.

Check out how a flat screen and anti-glare screens can prevent eye damage. Screens that offer sharper images and greater clarity are kind to your eyes and will help preserve your vision. Prevention of CVS, computer vision syndrome, is a hundred times better than any cure after a problem occurs.

Building Up Your Jeep

May 7th, 2009

It usually doesn?t take the new owner long after getting their first Jeep to start thinking about making modifications. Owning a Jeep and self-modifying it seem to go hand in hand like owning a hot tub and soaking. You see other jeeps tooling down the road and they look so much more,..?well, Jeep-like. You know the look ?Rough and ready to rock on!? A lot of first time owners may wonder, ?What do I need to do to get that look?? Well you can give your vehicle that look with 4 modifications.

First, tires and wheels are a good place to start. Those stock tires are pretty wimpy looking and spicing up the tires and wheels goes a long way to making your Jeep take on a new appearance. You?ll want to consider if you?ll be installing a lift and how much of one before you jump on the tires. The bigger the lift the larger the tires you?ll be able to run. Tires and wheels might be a simple way to change the look of your rig, but they won?t be an inexpensive way to go. They can be downright costly! You?ll need to consider your Jeep use before investing. Is it a daily driver, purely an offroad vehicle, or a mix of the two? You?ll also want to consider how your Jeep is powered and geared. A number of folks place way too much rubber under their rig and then wonder why it doesn?t respond or have any pick-up! Hello, you just added a few hundred pounds of rubber; do you think that it will have an effect? If you go with large tires, you might need to upgrade your gears. There is a cause and effect at work here. How your Jeep is powered and how you use it should ultimately determine what wheel and tire package you select. Consult with your local offroad performance shop if you?re not sure or you need help. They should be able to steer you in the right direction.

Second, those stock bumpers really do need to go. Not only are they unimpressive, they simply will not stand up to an offroad beating! There are a ton of options out there from tube units to the rock crawler bombproof heavy-gauge block units. The finishes are wide and varied as well; stainless steel, black powder coated, titanium finish (the latest craze), etc. Bumpers seem to be made by everyone these days from small shops making custom units to major manufacturers like Warn, Warrior and ARB producing lines of them. So you have a ton of options! For me I?d stick with a well-known company that offers a warranty on its products. You know their bumpers have been tested, passed DOT regulations, and the company stands behind them for defects. You won?t get any of that from a local shop, and even if you do, who knows how long they?ll be around to support it? Warrior makes a good basic steel bumper along with tube units. Warn makes a nice Rock Crawler Bumper with an optional grille guard. And ARB makes a tube bumper they call a Bull Bar. All three companies are recognized for well-made products and they all have a very good reputation. I don?t think you can go wrong with one of their bumpers.

Third, lift that Jeep. Raising your Jeep gives it a better, hardier profile. It really makes a difference. You can lift it with a simple lift system like coil spacers or lift shackles. Or you can go with a body lift or, even bigger and better, a suspension lift. There are tons of options from style, manufacturer, and price to select from. So, do your research and be thorough before making a final decision.

Fourth, you?ve lifted your Jeep and have bigger tires, now it?ll look a whole lot better with bigger fender flares. The higher vehicle and larger tires scream for wider and more pronounced fender flares! The most popular these days seem to be the Bushwacker 6 inch extended fender flares. Their flares are made of a tough Dura-Flex material so they take a beating and are easy to maintain. They bolt on using existing factory drilled holes and come in a black matte finish that is easy to custom paint. Bushwacker backs them up with a Limited Lifetime Warranty. Xenon and Bestop also make very good extended fender flares for your Jeep. Whichever flare you choose, your Jeep will look better with the extended type, and they?ll offer better protection against the flying debris from those larger tires.

With these four upgrades your Jeep will take on that rugged rock ready look. Don?t hesitate to contact a local performance offroad shop or a couple of them to ask questions and get input. The people at these shops are heavily involved in the sport of wheeling and they can offer some valuable insight into your options.

Car Stereo Systems - Putting the “BOOM - BOOM - BOOM” in Your System!

Car Stereo Systems - Putting the “BOOM - BOOM - BOOM” in Your System!

category : Automotive:Mobile-Audio-Video

When purchasing a car stereo system, finding quality car stereo amplifiers is critical. Unless you know in advance what type of amplifier you are going to purchase, you will need to research the various styles and prices of car stereo amplifiers. The amplifier you buy should be the best you can find in your price range. Not all car stereo amplifiers are created equally. Car stereo specialty stores and the numerous web sites devoted to creating the ultimate car stereo system can be of great value to you when researching amplifiers.

As with any other car stereo component, amplifiers vary in quality and price. The highest priced amplifier you find will not automatically be the best for your particular system. Finding quality car stereo amplifiers will take knowledge on your part. If the staff at your local car stereo store is not willing to explain the differences to you, then go on to the next store. You do not have to spend large amounts of money on a quality car stereo amplifier. Different amplifiers work better with some car stereo systems than with others. You should know where your amplifier will be located, how it will be installed, and what you expect as far as sound quality before you purchase your new amplifier.

For those who compete in car audio competitions, a higher priced amplifier may be able to give them just the type of sound they desire. For the average car stereo, a less expensive amplifier will work just as well. If you have invested a lot of money in your car stereo system you may want to go ahead and invest in a top quality car stereo amplifier. If you have purchased full range after market car speakers then a lower priced amplifier will suit your needs.

Finding quality car stereo amplifiers is no different than shopping for any other car stereo component. Research your choices thoroughly and have a clear idea of what you intend to accomplish with your amplifier. There is no need to purchase the most expensive amplifier if you are simply putting a superior stereo system in your personal vehicle. If car audio competition is your goal you will want to find a more expensive, top quality car stereo amplifier. Make wise decisions by learning the facts before you purchase a car stereo amplifier.

Enjoy!

Car Stereo Repair

Car Stereo Repair

category : Automotive:Mobile-Audio-Video

Have you ever experienced problems with getting your car speakers to work? Since I think many of us car owners have experienced this problem, I will provide this description of how to diagnose the problem of silent speakers and also give you some hints on how to fix it. Whether you are familiar with car stereo repair or not, this might help you. If it doesn’t, contact a dealer who can do an auto stereo repair or search for vehicle stereo repair help online. If your stereo speakers don’t work, then try

  • checking the speakers to see if they are disconnected
  • checking all fuses that are related to the auto speakers
  • tightening the butt connectors to the speakers
  • replacing all or some of the butt connectors

If your speakers are still not working, I recommend that you test the auto speakers that don’t work directly:

  • Disconnect each speaker that doesn’t work from the car?s wires and do the test below, doing one at a time.
  • Use a 9v battery and connect its leads to each auto speaker to be tested for a short moment.
    • Does the speaker have movement?
    • Do you hear the sound usually known as a ‘pop’ or thump?

If your answers to the questions above are ?yes?, your speaker will probably be able to make sound and it is likely to work.

  • Also note which way the speaker are moving, whether in or out of its frame during the test. Thus you can also determine your auto speakers polarity when connecting them up to the amplifier up in the front.
  • If the cone of your speaker moves out of the basket, the lead going to the positive of the battery is the positive lead of the speaker. If it goes in the opposite direction, the lead hooked to the negative of the battery is positive of your auto speaker.

This speaker direct test has two possible results: Either the speaker is not able to make sound or it is. If the first is the case, your speaker are dead and you must replace it. If the latter is the case, you should

  • run new speaker wires and rewire
  • perform the ‘popper’ tests to get the polarity correct as described above

Now, if this problem still persists you can at least rest assure that the reason is not your speaker. The reason is probably one of the following: Either it is caused by

  • problems in the deck itself or
  • the connections from the deck.

In this case I recommend that you contact a vehicle stereo repair shop or do a search online to get information about how to fix these problems.

Custom Chopper Kits

Custom Chopper Kits

category : Automotive:Motorcycles

Choosing the parts that your custom chopper will be made of can be very confusing, considering the large numbers of custom chopper bike kits available on the market today. Chopper innovators like Biker?s Choice, Phantom Cycle, Paul Yaffe and many more sell chopper-in-a-box kits available for chopper enthusiasts. Thanks to these kits, custom choppers have become quite affordable and are no longer necessarily toys for millionaires or master mechanics.

Custom chopper kits provide the future chopper owner with all the instructions and just about every component necessary to create a perfect chopper of ones dreams. Jesse James, famous for his Discovery series ?Monster Garage?, offers a Big Book catalogue loaded with individual parts and accessories needed to create a fully custom bike with truly unusual frame configurations and groundbreaking metal sheet parts as seen on his TV show. However, the most exquisite details, such as an unusual tortoiseshell finish of the gas tank, can be obtained in your custom chopper only if you have your chopper built from scratch by Jesse himself.

Before you start building your custom chopper you need to ask yourself what kind of chopper are you interested in building. Then you have to set up a budget for parts, labor and inevitable cost overruns. The price of the parts has scared many chopper enthusiasts from building a custom chopper of their own, but if you have exact specifications and the time and skills to invest into the project, then parts can be fairly inexpensive. If you choose the parts for your kit at the lower end spectrum, you will still end up with bike that will look like a Jesse James creation but will still have enough money left to throw a party when your new chopper leaves the garage.

When you select the parts for your custom chopper kit, try to use the most genuine parts available on the market within your price range. Sometimes even if you have a beautiful design in-mind, you can end up with poor-looking chopper, due to a lack of attention to detail by different suppliers

Complete custom chopper kits typically consists of an engine, chassis kit, exhaust pipes, tires, steel tanks and other metal parts, taillights, various controls, a seat, headlamp and many more. The extras supplied with a chopper kit would vary depending on the brand of chopper chosen. To finish your project, you will need paint and sometimes battery acid. Most chopper kits do not provide mirrors, speedometers or other accessories. These you can buy separately according to your taste.

To avoid unpredictable result, experienced chopper builder recommend waiting until you can afford buying all the accessories from one manufacturer. Waiting may not be easy when it comes to building your dream come true. But when you finally complete your custom chopper, you will be really glad you waited.

Early Acne - Microcomedone

May 6th, 2009

Comed_microcomedone

Several factors contribute to the start of an acne lesion:

  • Corneocytes, or skin cells, become more “sticky” as they are shed and accumulate in the pore instead of flowing out onto the skin.
  • More skin cells are shed at the top of the pore than the bottom.
  • Sebum production is increased.

During this stage, the pore looks normal on the outside but there are distinct changes in the cells surrounding the pore. As the material in the pore builds up, it creates a bottleneck that prevents sloughing. The medical term for this stage is a microcomedone.

The bacteria Propionibacterium acnes, often shortened to P. acnes, normally resides in the pores. It uses sebum as a nutrient for growth. As sebum production increases, the number of P. acnes bacteria increases in the pore. In the microcomedone stage, the bacteria do not cause infection because they are only in the material inside the pore, not infecting the skin.

Medications that help at this stage include:

  • Over-the-counter benzoyl peroxide kills bacteria and helps prevent P. acnes from overgrowing.
  • Prescription tretinoin products like Retin-A, Retin-A Micro, and Avita reverse the “stickiness” of the skin cells, allowing them to slough normally.
  • Over-the-counter salicylic acid 2% lotion is a beta hydroxy acid that also reverses the “stickiness” of the skin cells.
